Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why wouldn’t I just install a big box store epoxy product?

A professionally installed epoxy floor by a certified installer will give you a high quality and beautiful floor which will last for a long, long time. The most important parts of any concrete coating job is product quality and surface preparation. We use top quality planetary and hand-held diamond grinding equipment if needed and only commercial/industrial grade epoxy products which are guaranteed and proven over thousands of square feet of concrete . Comparing a store bought epoxy vs. a professionally installed commercial grade floor is like comparing a Pickup to a Peter-built!

I have some small cracks and pits in my floor. What do you do with them?

We will repair the cracks and pop outs in your floor before we install the epoxy coating.

What is the warranty?

All residential and commercial applications have a five year workmanship warranty and a ten year product warranty against peeling (delaminating), staining, and material defects. All warranties are transferable. Cracks and other repairs which give way due to the shifting of the substrate below are not warranted.

Is the epoxy floor very strong, what can damage it?

Yes, an epoxy floor is very strong and durable, but it can still be damaged mechanically or if the substrate (concrete underneath) were to be damaged. For example, if a heavy object like a sledge hammer were to be dropped on it or if you were to drag a heavy table with steel legs across it. An epoxy floor can be scratched just like regular concrete can be scratched. An epoxy floor will be very durable and last for years looking beautiful with reasonable care. Our floors are rated at 17,500 PSI.

What do I need to do in preparation for your arrival?

We need to have everything off the floor before we arrive so we can do the work. It is also helpful if you can locate your electrical panel and help us identify which outlets have at least a 20 amp circuit ( a standard 110V outlet ).

Why might I choose a flake color over a solid color?

A major advantage of the flake system is not only is it a stronger more durable floor but it also does a great job hiding minor imperfections in the concrete plus it has a beautiful effect over large areas. Since each flake color pattern incorporates many colors; you can select one that will go best with your decor and/or siding and window colors.

How do I clean my new epoxy floor?

For a light cleaning just use a broom, dust mop, or leaf blower. Simple ammonia water applied with a mop works great for a deeper cleaning. It can also be power washed with normal pressure washers or with a simple garden hose.  You’ll want to stay away from acids or soaps because these leave a film, which, when wet, become very slippery.

Won’t the repair work cause a lot of mess around my home or shop?

If we need to scarify, our process utilizes a semi-dustless grinding system.

How much does it cost?

Price will vary depending on square footage, amount of crack and concrete repair, and if there is an existing coating to remove. A typical single stall garage will normally cost about $1600 – $1800, a standard two car garage will normally cost about $1,800 – $2400, these would include materials and labor. We only use the very best products and provide you a limited 10 year transferable warranty.

How long does a typical installation take?

Most installations can be completed within 1 to 3 days depending on the prep and coating system used.

How long do I have to wait before I can walk or drive on the surface?

Depending on the time of year and temperature, you can normally walk on surface within 24 hours and drive on surface within 3 to 5 days.

Can this be used outdoors as well as indoors?

Yes; outdoor patios, sidewalks, breezeways, porches, and steps.

Is the floor slippery?

A flake system floor gives a texture feel to it and is normally no more slippery than regular concrete when wet. If you have a concern about slippage, we can add a slip resistant additive to the topcoats which will make the floor more skid resistant.
